Proton VPN

Proton VPN is the Android app for the VPN service run by Proton AG, the Swiss company that also makes Proton Mail. The free plan has no data cap, shows no ads and does not ask for payment details; the paid Plus plan adds servers in many more countries, higher speeds and streaming support.

Your connection is encrypted with WireGuard or OpenVPN, and a Stealth protocol helps on networks that try to block VPNs. Proton follows a no-logs policy that has been checked by outside auditors, and the source code of the app is public.

Useful extras include a kill switch, split tunnelling to keep chosen apps outside the VPN, one-tap Quick Connect, and on paid plans Secure Core multi-hop routing and the NetShield ad and malware blocker.
