Simon Tatham's Puzzles: forty logic games with no filler

A port that respects both the original collection and the touchscreen it now runs on.

Simon Tatham's Puzzles: forty logic games with no filler

Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection has been a fixture on desktops for years. Chris Boyle's Android port is not a lazy wrapper around it.

Generated, not authored

Every puzzle is generated at random with a chosen difficulty, so there is no finite set to work through and no point at which you have finished. That suits short sessions well: you are never mid-way through a campaign you have to remember.

The controls were actually reworked

The obvious failure mode for a port like this is a faithful desktop UI rendered too small to use. Instead the input was redesigned for touch, which matters most in the fiddlier puzzles like Solo and Bridges.

Where to start

Net and Light Up are the gentlest introductions. Mines is the familiar one. Bridges rewards patience more than speed.
